Our Racing Dream is proud to partner with Speedway Children's Charities

Originally known as the World 600 Charities, named after the World 600 race, in 1982 our name changed to Speedway Children's Charities. At that time SCC's singular fund raising event was an annual ball held prior to the Coca-Cola 600 but our founder Bruton Smith soon recognized the need to increase fund raising efforts as he saw the need in the community. In 1990, M/General Thomas M. Sadler, USAF (ret), was appointed Executive Director of Speedway Children's Charities to help facilitate the growth. A local Board of Trustees governs the Charlotte Chapter today.

The Charlotte Chapter hosts a wide range of events and promotions geared around race weeks and other activities at Lowe's Motor Speedway, events in the Charlotte community and is supported by teams of volunteers. 73 non-profits in the Charlotte area benefited from the more than $734,000 in 2008 and each year that number grows. The Charlotte chapter of SCC has had a huge effect by raising hundreds of thousands of dollars that stay right here in the community helping give thousands of children, whom without help, would have limited or no opportunities.
